AHSRA is a registered charity and not for profit company run by volunteers which aims to provide sports and recreation facilities for all ages in the local community. The Pavilion Café provides a vital income stream and it is run completely by volunteers. This friendly group are always looking for additional volunteers to join them so that the café can be open for as many sessions as possible, both to maximise revenue and to be available for people of all ages to meet for a chat and a catch up, to drop in after a walk, or to enjoy a drink or ice cream after playing on the field.
The Café also provides lunch on a regular basis for a group of people who may find it less easy to get out and about. This is prepared and served by café volunteers, and the lunch club is supported by Timebank, who offer transport as needed. The facility is much admired and it works because of the efforts of our lovely café volunteers.
There are lots of different roles and tasks for volunteers to be involved in. If you are interested please do make contact to find out more. It’s a great way to meet people.

Our Volunteers say:
If you’ve ever enjoyed tea and delicious homemade cakes in the Pavilion Cafe you’ll know that it’s brilliant community resource, one that’s much appreciated by customers and entirely run by volunteers. It’s a tribute to the dedicated volunteers we do have that we very rarely fail to open through lack of staff but it does happen and we wish it didn’t. Those of us who volunteer derive a great deal of pleasure not only from serving a range of simple snacks in a friendly, welcoming environment with beautiful views over the recreational field and over to the Welsh hills but also from connecting with local people. It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s not too time consuming and there’s no pressure so why not give it a try? We operate a rota system that puts you in charge of deciding when you can offer a shift. If you’re thinking of giving it a go why not pop into the cafe and have a chat with one of our volunteers ?

“In tribute to His Majesty The King’s public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas. The aim of The Big Help Out is to use volunteering to bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend.”
The running of the Playing Field and all Fundraising to keep the facilities that we all enjoy maintained and improved is all done by volunteers from our Community – and we need more.
If you could spare some time to volunteer either at specific events, one or 2 hours a month in the café, or even just occasionally, please leave your details with our café volunteers or email ashtonhsra@gmail.com and we’ll be in touch so that you can find out more.
