Ashton Sings is a happy, sociable, community choir with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying music in a safe and supportive environment.
The choir was born in the Golden Lion pub back in 2011. Since then, we have grown to a 75-strong group of singers, mainly from Ashton and neighbouring villages, but also from Kingsley, Frodsham, Northwich, Staffordshire, Greece, the Philippines and New Zealand!!
We come in all shapes and sizes, from those who believe they should only sing in the shower to those who could hold their own on Britain’s Got Talent! You don’t need to have any previous musical experience and there’s no need to read music – everything is taught. There are no auditions – everyone is welcome and valued!
Our Musical Director, Martin Jones, has the happy knack of gently helping us achieve the (seemingly) impossible! We sing from a wide range of musical genres in four-part harmony, encompassing the traditional, contemporary, well-known and less well known, in English, Russian and various African languages!! We particularly love singing the pieces composed/written by talented individuals within the choir (Martin Jones and Roy Green!).
Our choir members and our audiences tell us that what makes us stand out is the friendliness and the sense of fun that pervades everything we do! Come and experience our relaxed and fun-filled approach to singing by being our guest at one of our Monday night sessions.
We meet every Monday evening during term time, 19:30 – 21:30 at the Ashton & Mouldsworth Village Hall. Come and spend an evening with us to see if you’d like to be part of the fun!
